Get Active, Live Life, Be Healthy

Hello, my name is Stella and thank you for choosing the Active Living, Health and Fitness program.

My family

I decided to become a Personal Trainer in 2001 after four children and recovering from a long illness and three operations, I found that a combination of medication and an inability to exercise had left me overweight and very self-conscience. Too embarrassed to join a gym, I started with researching home exercise and nutrition. Four months later I had lost 30 kilograms and felt confident enough to join a gym and lost a further 10 kilograms weight training.

My interest in health and weight management increased to where I researched Program prescription and Advanced Weight training in various magazines and books to train myself and I was writing my own programs shortly after becoming a member.

The gym staff encouraged me to go further and I contacted the University for information on courses available in Gym Instruction. I enrolled in 2002 for a full time, one-year course in Certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness Instruction and Personal Training, including my Certificate 4 in Rehabilitation. Since then I became qualified in the areas of Special Groups including training with Jeff Fenech in Woman’s Fitness Boxing, Pre and Post Natal exercise, Nutrition, Weight management, Disabilities and became a qualified Pilates Instructor. I have worked for a woman’s fitness centre and a weight loss centre.

I am currently studying my Certificate 3 & 4 in Allied Health Services in Aged and Disabilities Care. I work for a Disability support service and as a Pilates Instructor for a community gym.

My program is based not only on my years of training but from my own personal experience.
There are no diet pills or shakes. No long exhausting or embarrassing hours at the gym.
I’ve used my years of knowledge on weight loss diets and exercise programs to form a straight forward, easy to follow menu and home exercise program suited to your needs.
This program uses common sense to help you understand that good health doesn’t mean that you have to punish yourself by depriving yourself of the food you love to eat.
This program is about learning moderation and better food choices while allowing you to enjoy a reward of a cheat day without the guilt.

My mission statement as a Trainer is to:
“Increase the health and well-being of Individuals, enhancing their quality of life through fitness and education.”
